2. Gruha pravesh

Vamsi

She didn't say a word. She didn't question. She didn't cry. She didn't resist. Her face is pale and has no emotions. Why do I feel bothered looking at her. "I hate her". I shouldn't be worried about her. Her parents are crying from the corner looking at us. My bodyguards stopped them from moving. They can only see us get married. They can't come near us. They can't stop this marriage from happening. They are helpless.

Stop it!! you rascal you can't do this with our daughter, her father said.

Please... please don't spoil my child's life my Sanu's life, her mother said.

She is sitting beside me as if she's not hearing anything or maybe she's not. She's doing whatever panditji says. When she signed the papers of our marriage registration. I heard a broken voice.

What did you do saanvi, why did you do this mera bachcha?. the lady said crying. she's hitting her forehead with her palm. My bodyguards stopped them too. Who are they?

Maa, calling her out she went to her and held her hands.

Maa, Is she her mother. Then who were they I pointed my gun at. I thought she married me because of her parent's life which was at stake or let me say in my hands. She ran to her from my side. I gestured my Bodyguards with my eyes to let them meet.

Maa, it's okay. She wiped her mother's tears saying this.

Sanu beta tum ye, aisa kyun kiya, a man said.

Papa please, she said. So he's her father.

Her dad grabbed my shirt's collar with his both hands. Bastard why did you do this with my daughter?, I can see pain and anger in his eyes and voice. I jerked him which made him leave my shirt he took few steps back as I was not harsh he didn't fall. She held his father from falling.

If these are her parents then who are they?. She easily said yes to me without defending. Why?. She don't even know me. Whatever, I don't care.

Why beta?, he said to which she slowly shook her head in negative controlling him.

Apni beti pe Barosa hai, yakeen karte hai na aap mujhe, she asked. Her parent's nodded at her tears flowing from there eyes. I scoffed at her words but no one here bothered about me now.

Trust me like you always did. I'll be fine, she assured them. She still has hopes that she'll be fine. Sorry miss Oh Mrs. Agastya Vamshi Chaturvedi.

your happy days ended today' NOW.

She assured them of her wellness that I've snatched away the time we tied the knot.

Sanu beta hamare liye ye sab karne ki zarurat nahi thi, the man I pointed my gun at said.

Haan beta tum hamare liye apni zindagi barbaad karli, It must be his wife who said this. Whatever but what she said is absolutely right.

She shook her head at them. None of them uttered a single word.

I dragged her from them while she was still talking to them. She glared at me but I didn't care about it. I didn't let them bid proper farewell to each other.

Anvi.

The car stopped. "He grabbed my arm, pulled me out of the car and left me with a jerk". My steps stumbled but I didn't fall to the ground. He shook his hand in air and rubbed it on his coats fabric cleaning it like he made a sin by touching me.

It's is the time before night when the sun has set completely. duskiness has filled the sky and darkness has filled my life. A beautiful half moon is appearing in the sky.

I looked around. A Big Mansion is in front of my eyes. God... I shut my eyes closing them. My heart trembled. I clutched the hem of my kurta tightly. It is the same place that I never want to visit even in my dreams. I hate this place.

He walked ahead and I followed him with my shaky legs. I did mange to walk.

Where were you?, a beautiful female voice is heard. He halted his steps hearing her. I stood beside him. we are standing in front of the main door.

The lady came to him and hugged him hurriedly. She kissed his forehead. you made me worried.. Where were you? beta, she asked him. He didn't say anything her eyes fell on me.

Who is this girl beta?, the lady asked him. Her voice is sweet. Few other people three people to be exact came and stood behind her near the door. In them the two peoples eyes are swollen and became red it seems they have been crying. God knows from how long.

Maa I married her. She's my wife, he said. His words clenched my heart. I didn't look at him. Everyone is shocked hearing him. A girls eyes filled with tears hearing him. Maybe she likes him.

He has a family and none of them knows he's married. What did he gain by doing all this.

What?, his mother asked. I can see disappointment in her eyes.

you are lying?, she said. Everyone stood in silence for few minutes.

Bhai you really got married. Why did you do this Bhai?, His brother asked. He remained silent.

Bhai it was yesterday just yesterday we were mourning our father's death, It must be his sister.

Why did you do this?, his mother asked him. Her voice trembled but she is trying to be firm before him. He didn't say anything again.

Answer, she said. Her voice has authority this time. Her eyes fixed on him. He shut his mouth, he didn't answer anything.

Answer me, she said louder in a angry voice. He has no response.

So you'll remain silent' like this, she said. He tried to go inside unbothered.

Stop there, she said in a strong and authorative voice. His steps halted he didn't go inside. He stood back firmly.

She went inside. Me, my prisoner I mean my husband. and those people are standing near the door. After sometime his mother came with few servants. One with Aarti taal. Another person with Kumkum water taali. Few people put white fabric on the floor. And his mother held Kalash. She bent down and kept on the door frame. A servant passed the Aarti taal to her. She called his sister and asked to lit the diya. She asked her to do aarti. The girl rotated the taal first in clockwise direction then in anti-clockwise direction. She put kumkum water on our forehead as tilak with her left thumb finger. She did everything just like his mother said.

I don't know why you married her but I know you won't say anything even if I ask you, his mother said this looking at him.

But I'm welcoming her with complete respect that a Daughter-in-law should receive at her Sasural, His mother said.

Did she accept me?

Beta gently kick this Kalash, she said. I looked at him once. I did what she said. The Kumkum water plate is kept near my foot right in front of them. I put my legs in it and walked on the white fabric.

I looked at the left corner of the living hall my eyes fell on photo frame hanged on the wall with a garland around it. Few incense sticks and  a diya is kept before it on the table cum cupboard. I clutched my chest tightly. My heartbeat raised and my whole body started sweating.

I realized why he married me when I saw that picture. My heart and mind is saying one thing in sync at this time. "He knows", Fear filled my heart. My brain stopped working.

Beta are you Okay?, his mother asked holding my arm.

When I came back to senses I looked around. He's not here.
